Dar is a wizard’s apprentice, a young man with a safe, obvious life before him. It's a respectable position in the world of Holimoren, and it never occurs to him that it should be otherwise until he is ambushed, kidnapped, and impressed into an army so far from home he's never heard of it. In this new brutal reality he must serve - or be beaten.
He must obey orders - or else. He must defend himself against enemies.. in both armies! - or be killed. And above all else he must defend the abbey, the Fortress of Angels, looming above the center of the siege. Survival will cost him the person he used to be. But why is the war being fought? And what is Dar willing to become to end it? Taking elements from World War 1 and Vietnam but set in a Tolkien style world, Fortress of Angels shows the less than glamorous sides of war and how those moments shape the men and the final outcome of the conflict. |
Journey to Redemption
When a flash of an ax in a quiet inn thrusts Dar, apprentice Journeyman, into the midst of an assassination attempt, he becomes the guardian of Drij, a mysterious stranger on a dangerous pilgrimage. Together, he and Drij will journey across Holimoren to a city sought by all who wish to make amends with the Gods—a city known in every language as Redemption. With them will journey people with deeper sorrows, darker secrets, and more horrific memories than all the wars have burned into the man who would dare to guard them. For good or for ill, all who are called to Redemption are changed by the journey.
Dar must learn what coming to Redemption really means—for himself, and the world. For as their wagon grows closer to that holy ground, so too does a legend returning from the distant past. A legend that is evil beyond this world. |
